CLEVELAND - A pilot program will bring the arts into public schools in Cleveland and a handful of other cities across the country.
Cleveland will be one of eight communities to get $250,000 each from the Ford Foundation.
The grants come at a time when one in four school principals says less time is being devoted to the arts, according to a Council for Basic Education study.
Other communities receiving grants include Washington, D.C.; St. Louis; Baltimore; Dallas; Jackson, Miss.; and California's Alameda County and the city of Berkeley.
