Massillon, OH- An early Saturday morning car crash seriously injured two brothers, killing the third.

Martel Carpenter, 17, a senior Massillon High School Football player, was driving his two brothers Kor-Shawn Carpenter, 13, and 14 year old D'Aire Carpenter in their 1990 Volkswagon Passat. The Carpenters were heading down Richville Drive in Perry Township around 7:45 a.m. when Martel Carpenter went off the road, overcorrected, and hit a 2003 Chevy 2500 Pick-Up Truck head-on.

14-yr-old D'Aire Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene, the other two brothers were transported to two nearby hospitals. Both are listed in serious condition.

The driver of the Chevy, John Gray of Massillon, was treated for minor injuries and released. Gray's two passengers were uninjured.

Patrols say the oldest of the three brothers, Martel, was the only one wearing his seatbelt. Police also concluded that alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the traffic accident.
