Local Couple Says Police Went Too Far

CLEVELAND - Michael and Anna Ferrente said that they are the victims in a weekend police chase, 19/43 News' Harry Boomer reported.

Police were responding to a call of a man with a gun on East 149th Street this past weekend. When they got there, they saw the Ferrentes in a black truck, and ordered them out.

The couple refused, and Michael drove away, hitting the cruiser in the process.

The couple said that they drove away because they didn't know it was police emerging from an unmarked police cruiser, and they thought they were being carjacked.

"He just kept yelling, 'Get out of the car! Get out of the car! Get out of the car!' Over and over again at the top of his lungs," Anna said. "I knew he was going to kill us."

"If you've ever had a gun pointed at your head, never done anything wrong in your life, it was just incredible," Michael said.

Police said that Michael fit the description of the gunman police were searching for.

There's no word yet on what charges Michael might face.
