Lorain, OH - Approximately one-third of Lorain County's Police Departments are under the microscope due to conduct issues.
The departments are allegedly being investigated for sexual misconduct, belittling a boy with behavioral disorder, and bar fighting. Since 2000, the lawsuits and allegations have increased causing the city to shovel out $500,000 dollars in legal fees and settlements.
Cheif Cel Rivera says that his department investigated the misconduct reports earlier and found they lacked merit. The bottom line is that the city is pretty safe, claimed Rivera.
19 Action News has received several emails from Lorain area residents about the L.P.D, here's what one resident has to say:
"It's about time, the cleveland media expressed interest in that department. They have had problems for years. Please, keep up the good work, I'm sure people will start coming forward regarding criminal matters with some of those officers."
