Oakland, CA - The Tigers bring a 1-to-0 series lead into Wednesday's second game of the A-L-D-S.

Brandon Inge and Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez hit solo homers in the third inning of last night's 5-to-1 win. And Detroit added three more in the fourth, knocking out Oakland starter Barry Zito, who lasted three and two-thirds innings in taking the loss.

Winning pitcher Nate Robertson pitched five scoreless innings for the Tigers, allowing six hits.

Oakland had its chances but came up empty in clutch time. The A's were oh-for-12 with runners in scoring position. They stranded nine runners and hit into four double plays.

Justin Verlander gets the nod tonight for the Tigers. He won 17 games during his rookie campaign. The Athletics hand the ball to Esteban Loaiza, who was 11-and-9 in the regular season.
