London Bomb Plot Suspect Pleads Guilty

LONDON - A British man pleaded guilty Thursday morning to conspiring to murder in a bomb plot intended to hit the United States.

Dhiran Barot, 34, said in a clear voice "I plead guilty". Judge Neil Butterfield of Woolwich Crown Court said the maximum sentence Barot could receive is life in prison and that will be annouced at a later date.

Prosecutors said the foiled plot was intended to hit areas such as the New York Stock Exchange, Britain, World Bank Headquarters in Washington, the Citigroup building in New York, and the Prudential building in Newark, N.J.

Seven other men involved in the bomb plot will face trial next year.
