Tigers Secure World Series Spot; Mets and Cards Play Tonight


ST. LOUIS (AP) - The New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals are playing Game Five of the National League Championship Series tonight.

The series is tied 2-to-2 after the Mets took Game Four last night 12-to-5. The Mets belted out four homers in the win. Tom Glavine takes the hill for the N-L East champs tonight.

The veteran lefthander has recorded 13 straight scoreless innings in the postseason with wins over the Dodgers and the Redbirds.

Right-hander Jeff Weaver starts for the N-L Central champs. He lost to Glavine in the N-L-C-S opener.
