Man Gets 45 Years In Child Pornography Case

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - A man who attempted to engage in sexual activity with a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old was sentenced to nearly 45 years in prison Monday.

Craig Allen Limbach, 45, of Massillon, pleaded guilty in October to 16 sex-related charges, included attempted rape and possession and dissemination of pornographic images of children. Limbach pleaded no contest to four other charges.

Stark County Common Pleas Judge Sara Lioi sentenced Limbach to 44 years, 11 months in prison.

Massillon police arrested Limbach in April. A detective posing on the Internet as a female baby sitter invited Limbach to rape two toddler girls. He showed up and was arrested.

A search of his home turned up 328 computer disks containing 872 photos showing sexual violence and more than 4,000 photos of nude children.

Police put Limbach under surveillance after Anita Hoot, 59, of nearby Perry Township, brought her computer to a repair shop and asked a technician to save images of child pornography stored on the hard drive.

The repairman called police. Hoot told investigators her pornography source was Limbach.

"We have prosecuted child pornography cases before, but what makes this case unique is the incident in which he is ready, willing and able to engage in sex with a 1- and 2-year-old child," said Jonathan Baumoel, an assistant Stark County prosecutor.

Limbach's attorney, Gary Willen, did not return messages requesting comment.
