Another Steel Company Faces Possible Shutdown

LORAIN, Ohio – LTV Steel Corp. is not the only local steel company in crisis, 19/43 News reported.

Republic Technologies International, based in Lorain, is also facing a possible shutdown.

Republic is asking a bankruptcy judge to delay wage increases and bonuses that were to be paid out beginning this month. The company said that without the delay, it would be forced to shut down by the second week of December.

A shutdown would put 4,500 people out of work.
