Students Stay Home Because Of Meningitis Scare

SANDUSKY, Ohio - Students at Woodlands Elementary School in Sandusky stayed at home on Monday because of a meningitis scare, 19/43 News reported.

Three children were hospitalized as a precaution last week, but only one actually tested positive for meningitis.

Doctors said that the child that tested positive had the less serious viral infection, and is now recovering at home.

Just last week, however, 7-year-old Hannah Edwards died of the bacterial form of the virus, so school is closed to give students and their families time to get preventative antibiotics.

Classes are set to resume on Tuesday.
