Man Going To Jail For Terrorizing Seniors

CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga County prosecutors said that they've convicted a man who headed up a ring of thieves that terrorized and robbed senior citizens, 19/43 News reported.

A judge sentenced Bernard Johnson to 21 years in prison on Monday.

Prosecutors said that Johnson led a group of thieves that would pose as police so that seniors would let them into their homes.

The thieves would proceed to terrorize and rob the senior citizens.

Johnson was convicted in two cases, he has three more cases pending and he's a suspect in many more.

"There are about 20 or 30 other elderly victims in the area as I understand it," assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor Terri Tiburzio said. "They haven't been able to solve these crimes."

Just last weekend, someone attacked and robbed an 88-year-old woman near East 142nd Street and Milverton Road. That incident, however, does not appear to be connected to the group that Johnson headed.
