Ohio Company Recalls 60,000 Candle Holders

WASHINGTON (AP) - An Ohio company is recalling 60,000 wooden candle holders because they can catch fire when candles in the holders burn down to the bottom of their wicks.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that Darice Inc., of Strongsville, is issuing the recall as a precaution.

The recalled candle holders are made of unfinished wood and are designed to be painted or decorated. The holders, which are intended to support taper candles, come in five different shapes and sizes.

The Darice wholesale catalog, Wal-Mart Stores and independent craft stores, including Pat Catan's Craft Centers and Ben Franklin Crafts, sold the candle holders from October 2000 through November 2001.
