REDMOND, Wash. (AP) - It's the lastest, and the smallest, of the new game consoles to hit the market. And Nintendo says it expects its Wii (wee) to carve out its own niche in the gaming market.
Unlike offerings by Sony and Microsoft, the Wii video machine doesn't play D-V-Ds. But it does have an innovative controller. It's shaped more like a T-V remote. And if you're playing a baseball game, it acts like the bat. Instead of pressing a button, you swing the controller.
Wii is smaller than the other new game systems. Nintendo's George Harrison says it's about the size of three D-V-D boxes stacked together. Harrison also says the system's 250-dollar price should appeal to families.
