President Pardons Turkey

WHITE HOUSE (AP) - President Bush has spared two turkeys from dinner tables tomorrow, and is instead sending them to Disneyland.

In a Rose Garden ceremony this morning, the president pardoned two Missouri turkeys -- Flyer and Fryer -- continuing the annual tradition.

In addition to the pardons, the president said that the relieved birds will be flown today to Disneyland to serve as the honorary grand marshal of the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The president's dog, Barney, is probably less than thrilled with that decision. The president said Barney was out chasing one of the birds in the Rose Garden before the pardoning ceremony.

During the ceremony, the president also thanked members of the military, saying that their "sacrifice makes us grateful. And their character makes us proud."
