Cleveland Woman Receives First Ever Ankle Replacement

CLEVELAND (AP) - Fifty-five-year-old Beverly MacFarland of Warren received a groundbreaking surgery at the Cleveland Clinic yesterday.

Doctor Brian Donley performed the nation's first ankle replacement implant using a new device. The device is smaller than traditional ankle replacement implants and requires a smaller incision. MacFarland previously received replacements for both hips and both knees because of arthritis.
