Columbus, OH - Buildings across Ohio are going smoke-free today, well almost all of them.
Issue 5 was passed on Nov. 7, after employers and employees called the Ohio Department of Health and the American Lung Association of Ohio about how the move to a smoke-free environment would affect them. The people have spoken and want to breathe clean air when they go out in public.
The new law bans smoking in all buildings other than private homes, tobacco shops, designated hotel rooms and enclosed areas in nursing homes.
One local bar in Kent will be lighting up still, "Fire Fly" is a hooka bar, and is exempt.
More to come on the ban as it goes into effect today.
