MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Michigan businesses are hoping Ohio smokers will cross the state line to find a place to light up.
Ohio's statewide smoking ban has gone into effect today in nearly all of the Buckeye State's indoor public places. That includes bars and restaurants.
A bar manager in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, says she hopes to see a lot more people from nearby Toledo.
Toledo has had an indoor smoking ban since 2003, but people were allowed to light up in set-aside smoking lounges. The new state law will wipe those out.
