Indians: Free Agent Signed to Minors; Non-Roster Invite to Majors

Harris, 33, opened the 2006 season on the Major League roster of the Seattle Mariners, appearing in 3 games (0-0, 5.40ERA, 3.1IP, 3H, 2ER) before being optioned to AAA Tacoma on April 12.  At Tacoma he went 0-3 w/a 5.52 ERA in 15 games/4 starts (31.0IP, 43H, 19ER), spending 2 months on the disabled list with right shoulder tendonitis.   Harris is currently pitching in Venezuela for Lara and has posted a record of 4-1 w/a 2.15 ERA in 9 outings (8GS, 50.1IP, 34H, 12ER, 23K).

Harris has been pitching professionally since being selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 28th round of the 1995 draft out of the University of San Francisco.  He spent six (6) seasons in the Twins player development system (1995-2000) and after 3 ½ seasons pitching in the independent & Mexican League signed with the Mariners in June of 2004.  In 2005 he went a combined 10-2 w/a 2.55 ERA in 27 games at AA San Antonio & AAA Tacoma (11GS, 102.1IP, 75H, 29ER) before finishing the year in the Mariners rotation (2-5, 4.19ERA, 11G/8GS).  He owns a career minor league record o of 75-39 w/a 3.35 ERA in 384 games/84GS (1000.2IP, 935H, 372ER).
