Organization Releases Good, Bad Toys Lists

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Lion & Lamb Project has a few suggestions as you begin your holiday toy shopping.

The organization promotes toys that provide fun and creative play -- and some patriotism -- in this year's Top Twenty Creative Nonviolent Toys list.

Executive Director Daphne White suggests firemen, police, and rescue worker costumes -- which come with some tools of the trade. She also recommends old-fashioned puzzles and board games including "Cranium," a trivia game that engages children and adults.

White says to steer clear of this year's "Dirty Dozen" violent toys such as "Bone Crunchin' Buddies." The "buddies" are plush toys that depict figures from the World Wrestling Federation. They encourage kids to crunch the figures elbows and knees, to hear bone crunching action.

She says that toys based on video games such as "Metal Gear Solid," and "Turok Three, Shadow of Oblivion" should also be avoided, as well as Rock Em Sock Em Robots and Street Fighter video games.
