Chorus Member Dies Of Bacterial Meningitis

LAKEWOOD, Ohio - A five-year member of the North Coast Men's Chorus passed away at Lakewood hospital from bacterial meningitis, 19/43 News reported.

Family and hospital workers were all tested, and the Cuyahoga County Health Department met with grieving choir members on Tuesday night to answer their questions.

"He was probably the chorus member who was most filled with the joy of life," chorus president Jeff Lamkin said.

The 32-year-old was not in the usual age bracket for meningitis victims, thus an investigation is underway to determine how he contracted the disease.

"It's very important that we determine how this happened as soon as possible," commissioner of public health Susan Axelrod said.

The disease is only contagious through shared saliva.

The men's chorus will perform on Saturday, Dec. 15 at Cleveland State University minus their beloved baritone singer.
