Akron Widow Files Lawsuit over Death in Baseball Brawl

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A woman whose husband was killed in a brawl at an Akron-area youth baseball tournament has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the man convicted in the case and the tournament sponsor.

Amy Abrams asks for unspecified damages in the civil suit filed yesterday in Summit County Common Pleas Court.

Her husband, Robert Abrams, was working in a concessions stand at the July 2005 tournament when a brawl broke out in the parking lot over a five dollar parking fee.

Richard Haught went to trial on charges in Robert Abrams' death. Haught was convicted of assault and placed on probation, but acquitted of involuntary manslaughter, a charge that carried prison time.
