OSU: No Violations Occurred at Fundraiser

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State says NCAA rules were not violated at last weekend's spaghetti-dinner fundraiser to send families of four Buckeyes players to the national championship game.

A university athletic official says Ohio State is confident the players and their families didn't know in advance about the dinner in Akron. He adds that no money was given to anyone associated with the football program.

The players could have had to miss the January 8th game if they were found in violation of rules prohibiting athletes from receiving special benefits.

The December 23rd dinner was intended to help cover travel costs for the families of players from the Akron area wanting to attend the game in Glendale, Arizona.
