Goodyear Stock on the Rise

Akron, OH - Goodyear's stock is getting a bounce after workers nationwide voted to end their nearly three-month strike.

At noon on Friday, shares of the Akron-based tire company were up two-and-a-half percent on the New York Stock Exchange.

About 14,000 union members approved a new contract by a 2-to-1 margin on Thursday night

The United Steelworkers says its members will return to work Tuesday, ending a strike that began October 5th.

The three-year deal the union and Goodyear struck a week ago includes plans to close a Texas tire factory and create a $1 billion dollar health care fund for retirees.
