Fire Truck Bought By Akron Residents Arrives In NY

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Ladder truck 163 was dedicated at a Queens fire station on Thursday as a gift from the people of Akron to the people of New York City.

Garrick Curry, 9, handed over the keys to the New York fire department. Curry represented the tens of thousands of citizens who contributed to the $1.3 million fund.

The money bought five vehicles to replace some of those lost in the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
