Lawyers Choose Case In Winery Collapse Lawsuit

PORT CLINTON, Ohio (AP) - Attorneys for those injured in the Lonz Winery collapse have picked a case to represent all of the cases filed in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court.

Attorneys chose the case of a Tiffin woman who was hurt on Lake Erie's Middle Bass Island.

Seventy-five people were injured on July 1, 2000 when a concrete patio buckled and dropped them into an empty cellar.

In September, a judge said that all Ottawa County cases should be joined for the trial.

Jean Lonsway will represent the 19 cases filed in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court.

Lonsway filed her lawsuit against the winery owners after suffering severe injuries to her leg and knee when she fell into the cellar.
