CLEVELAND (AP) - The Browns put safety Percy Ellsworth on injured reserve Friday, their NFL-high 14th player lost for the season.
Ellsworth has a strained quadriceps and sat out last week's game against New England. He started the first nine games of the season, but had been limited to special teams after being replaced by safety Devin Bush in the team's 10th game.
Ellsworth is in his second year with the Browns after four seasons with the New York Giants.
The Browns will not fill Ellsworth's roster spot until next week, team spokesman Ken Mather said.
Cleveland also had a league-leading 14 players on injured reserve last season. New England is second with 10 players on injured reserve this season. The league average is 4½.
