AVON, OH - An Avon man shot while he was sleeping was listed in fair condition at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland on Thursday night.
Hermino Carrasquillo, 48, called police from his residence at 35268 Livingston Drive to report that he had been shot shortly after 3 a.m. Avon police and fire personnel responded to the residence at 3:26 a.m. and Carrasquillo was transported to EMH Avon Emergency Care Center and then flown by helicopter to MetroHealth. C
ircumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, but Avon police said the incident does not appear to be a random act. "Residents don't have to be worried," said Lt. Keith Haag.
Hermino and Pamela Carrasquillo purchased the 2,710-square-foot home in 1995 for $254,000 according to auditor records.
Neighbors to the residence, who didn't wish to be named, said they hardly knew the family, and were surprised when police were knocking at their door at 4 a.m. "Yellow tape was tied to our tree, and one of those CSI guys was walking up and down their driveway taking pictures," the neighbor said. "(The police) said it wasn't a random act, but I was still shocked."
