Cleveland, OH - A mother of three was shot and killed Friday evening in her apartment on E.126th Street, her three children were home at the time.
Police arrested the father of at least one of the children, Eric Chatmon, 24-years-old, on scene Friday. The mother, 25-year-old Joy Turner, was found shot in the chest with a small handgun. Turner's three children, a six-year-old and a 3-year-old, along with an infant, were in the apartment at the time of their mother's shooting.
Members of the "Children Who Witness Violence Program" were called to the apartment to help the children.
The Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services decided to give temporary custody to the paternal grandparents, father's parents, until further notice. The department stated the children visited the paternal grandparent's often and had their own rooms and toys there. The youngest child, the infant, is allegedly the only child of the suspect in custody.
