Show Dogs Stolen, Killed

Cuyahoga Falls, OH - Two show dogs were stolen and killed Sunday morning after a van, containing the two Hungarian Pointers, was stolen and set on fire in a muddy field.

The owner of one of the show dogs, Ida Kavafian, was staying at a Sheraton Suites on Route 8 with four dogs. Kavafian left her dog and one of her friend's dogs in the van, and went back into the hotel to get the other two, when she returned the van was gone.

Police say they found the vehicle in Munroe Falls in a field off of Gaylord Drive.  The van appeared to have been set on fire with the dogs inside, who were found dead.

Kavafian was alerted of the discovery at the Summit County Fairgrounds in Tallmadge and was absolutely devastated. Kavafian traveled to Ohio from Connecticut.

The dog show was being held by the Rubber City Kennel Club of Akron
