Medina, OH - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is asking motorists to avoid the intersection of US 42 and Columbia Road due to a fatal accident between a pick-up truck and a cement truck. One person, the pick-up truck driver, was confirmed dead.
The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. The cement truck driver was not injured, no one else was in the pick-up truck.
A 1994 Ford Ranger pickup, Driven by Andrew W Dye, age 27, of 5790 Cleveland Rd, Wooster, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Medina County Morgue.
The driver of a 2007 Volvo VHD84F 200 Cement truck, Driven Walter L. Irwin, age 56, of 9881 Wooster Pike, Seville Ohio was transported to Medina General Hospital and treated for minor injuries and released.
Dye was headed northbound on US 42. and Walter was southbound on US 42. Dye came upon a vehicle that was stopped to make a turn onto Columbia Rd. Dye lost control of his pick-up truck going left of center, and was struck by Walter's cement truck
This crash remains under investigation.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Both drivers were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash.
