Canton, OH - Canton-based Timken says it plans to spend about 60 (m) million dollars to expand production at its steel rolling mill, an investment that could create around 30 new jobs by next year.
Timken says construction should begin in June and end in mid-2008 on a 76-thousand-square-foot addition to its Harrison Steel Plant in Canton.
A company spokesman says Timken wants to broaden its product line to include steel bars down to one-inch in diameter that can be used by industrial and automotive businesses.
A Japanese company that manufactures small-bar steel used by automakers will provide technical assistance in the project.
Timken has 27-thousand employees and operations in 27 countries.
