MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) - Talk about cold-blooded.
Four workers clearing debris along the Great Miami River yesterday in Middletown in southwest Ohio found an eight-foot boa constrictor -- but it was frozen stiff.
The snake was stretched out when found near a bike path along the river.
Snakes are unable to generate their own body heat and survive by taking heat from external sources, such as the sun or rocks.
Boas are native to Central and South America and aren't cut out for Ohio winters.
