Feds Leave Rates Unchanged

AP AP

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Federal Reserve is leaving a key interest rate at five and a-quarter percent.

That decision had been widely expected as the economy is growing at a better-than-expected clip. In fact, some economists are now worried that the central bank may feel the need to resume raising rates for fear that inflation pressures will not keep easing.

The Fed's decision means that banks' prime lending rate, the benchmark for (m) millions of consumer and business loans, will remain unchanged at eight and a-quarter percent.
