UnitedHealth Lawsuits

Cleveland, OH (AP) - Ohio AG criticizes UnitedHealth panel looking into stock options. A stock options scandal that led to the departure of UnitedHealth Group's chief executive is raising questions in Ohio.

Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann is wondering why it's taking so long for an independent committee to decide whether to pursue action on the scandal. The Minnesota-based health insurer had set up the committee to look into possible legal action.

Shareholders led by some Ohio public pension funds have sued the company, its board, and executives to force them to revoke backdated stock options given to former CEO William McGuire. Dann says he fears the committee is cutting shareholders out of negotiations with McGuire.

UnitedHealth says it has no influence on the committee. Its two members have not returned phone messages seeking comment.
