English Springer Spaniel Nation's Top Dog

NEW YORK (AP) - An English springer spaniel named Diamond Jim is the country's new top dog.

The six-year-old certified therapy dog beat out Bill Cosby's terrier Dandie Dinmont and other competitive canines for best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show.

Handler Kellie Fitzgerald says she's "over the moon" since she wanted Diamond Jim "to go out with a bang." He's retiring from the dog-show world.

Bragging on the champ, Fitzgerald says he "shows 110 percent all the time" and "really excels in the big ring."

Today, Diamond Jim will make a tour of the morning T-V shows and enjoy a big meal at New York's famed Sardi's restaurant.
