Full Time City Employees May Live Outside of City

Cleveland - A judge ruled today that Cleveland police officers, fire fighters and other full-time city employees can live outside city limits.

A state law went into effect back in May giving them that right; however, Mayor Frank Jackson then filed a lawsuit against the state and told workers they would be fired if they followed this ruling.

The union for the cops and firefighters then filed a suit against the city.

The city argues an exodus would kill the tax base and says safety workers have more pride in their jobs -- living in the city they serve.

19 Action News has learned the city does plan on appealing today's ruling.
