Footprints In Snow Lead Police To Robbers

AKRON, Ohio - Two men are behind bars charged with aggravated robbery after police tracked them down -- literally, 19/43 News' Denise Strzelczyk reported.

Police said that 19-year-old Gary Thompson and 18-year-old Richard Davis robbed Temptations Exotic Wear in Akron at gunpoint on Monday night. The duo got away with $500 in cash, but they didn't get very far.

Thompson and Davis left a trail of footprints in the snow -- a trail that led police to the apartment building where the two were hiding.

"We'd just had quite a bit of snow fall, and they had run through some backyards that nobody else had gone through," Akron Police Department Sgt. Christopher Baker said. "The officers were very astute and able to follow these footprints, and they went right to the building."

Akron Police officials said that every year a number of cases are solved by following footprints in the snow.
