Former Pet Store Owner Can't Have Pets

MASSILLON, Ohio (AP) - For five years there won't be any cats or
dogs in the home of a former pet store owner in northeast Ohio.

A judge in Massillon has barred 23-year-old Justin Coulter of
Akron from owning pets as part of his sentence on a conviction for
animal cruelty.

Authorities say Coulter stabbed a dog in the hind leg on New
Year's Day. The dog required 13 stitches.Coulter says the 100-pound boxer had killed his roommate's catand then attacked him.

He got one day in jail, a 100-dollar fine and must pay 800
dollars in veterinary bills for the boxer. Coulter was sentenced
Friday in Massillon.
