Apparent Tornado Damages Alabama Community

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (AP) - An airport worker in Enterprise, Alabama, says a storm that's caused significant damage in his community was "ugly-looking" to him because it was so big.

Officials say the violent storm may have spawned a tornado that hit a high school in its path. Officials say there are early reports of injuries at the school and in the downtown area.

A state representative says police are trying to determine if any students are trapped inside. A teenager who attends the school says she'd left shortly before the storm hit. But Martha Rodriquez says when she returned, a hall had collapsed and "there were kids inside."

Rodriquez, who described seeing tipped over cars and ripped out trees, says "it was just horrible."

Meanwhile, an emergency official says the storm has caused extensive damage in west Alabama, flipping over mobile homes and downing trees in one community.
