Not Guilty Plea for Coach Accused of Having Sex with Student

CLEVELAND (AP) - An assistant high school girls soccer coach on Thursday pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of having sex with a 15-year-old team member.

Patrick Omiecinski, 27, of Maple Heights, was indicted Feb. 22 on charges of sexual battery and unlawful sex with a minor. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason said Omiecinski, if convicted, faces a sentence of up to 30 years in prison.

Omiecinski posted a $10,000 bond and was ordered to cooperate in an HIV test.

The charges accuse him of twice having sex with the Garfield Heights High School team member in September. The student told the high school's principal, who alerted police.
