Lakewood Parents Sue School District; Claim Son wasn't Protected from Bullies

LAKEWOOD, Ohio (AP) - Parents in the suburban Cleveland city of Lakewood are suing their school district, claiming officials didn't do enough to protect their son from bullies.

Mike and Kelly Wencho say their son was bullied in middle school, suffered suicidal thoughts and panic attacks. Kelly Wencho says he spent three days in a psychiatric hospital last March after being shoved.

The suit, filed yesterday, asks for damages of at least 50-thousand dollars. A lawyer for the school district says officials took appropriate steps, including meeting with the boy and the students he claimed were bullying him.

The Wencho's say their son now attends a Roman Catholic school.
