TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - The Lucas County Dog Warden wants to reunite
more lost pets with their owners.
Now, with the help of some donated technology, that process got
a little easier. The dog warden announced this week it received a
scanner to check for identifying microchips implanted under a pet's
The device was donated by the maker of the HomeAgain brand of
chip, but can detect competitors' brands as well.
Dog warden Tom Skeldon says it's just one more tool at their
disposal, albeit slightly more sophisticated than the collars and
tags his workers generally rely on to identify lost animals.
