Canton, OH - Police are investigating a deadly crash that claimed the life of a man early Wednesday morning.

19 Action News has learned the crash happened at 2:30AM Wednesday morning on Raff Road SW in Canton.

Police say the male victim was pinned under the car - and was pronounced DOA by paramedicans on the scene.

An unidentified man died in a car crash about 2:30 a.m. today on Raff Road SW in Canton. The victim was pinned in the car. Police dispatchers received the call at 2:26 a.m. Firefighters from Station 5 at Raff Road and Tuscarawas St. W. were first on the scene and with paramedics determined the victim was DOA. The car was on its top after shattering a large utility pole that carried both telephone lines and 440-volt high tension power lines. The pole, broken midway in its length, hung precariously over the scene, closing the road more than two hours until an AEP representative determined it was safe to move the car. Stark County Coroner's representative Rick Walters, at the scene, ordered the body taken to the county morgue.
