Norton Mayor Resigns Amid DUI Allegations

Summit County, OH - Developing news out of Summit County - where a mayor has resigned his post.

Norton Mayor Joseph Kernan has stepped down following his drunk driving arrest on St. Patrick's Day.

Kernan was nabbed by Bay Village police early Saturday morning.

He refused to take a breathalizer but did fail a field sobrity test.

19 Action News has learned Kernan's blood alcohol level was more than two times the legal limit at the time of his arrest. 

Norton's City Council President James Price will act as mayor until council votes on a replacement.
