Sec. of State Issues Formal Complaint to Remove Remaining BOE Members

CLEVELAND (AP) - Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner today issued a formal complaint to remove Cuyahoga (keye-uh-HOH'-guh) County's Republican elections board members over persistent voting problems.

They are Robert Bennett and Sally Florkiewicz (FLOHR'-kee-witz).

Bennett, who heads the elections board and the Ohio Republican Party, says the complaint has political overtones but he won't comment beyond that. Florkiewicz hasn't commented.

Two Democratic board members have resigned as Brunner demanded.

Brunner is alleging five reasons for their removal, including failure to follow recount procedures in the 2004 presidential election. Two board employees were convicted in the re-count and were sentenced last week to 18 months in prison.
