Pilot, Nurse Die In Fiery Helicopter Crash

CLEVELAND - A helicopter crash at University Hospital early Friday morning left two people dead and another person injured, 19/43 News reported.

The University MedEvac medical transport helicopter went down shortly after taking off from the roof of the hospital.

Hospital officials said that the pilot -- 51-year-old William Spence of Marshallville -- and a flight nurse -- 38-year-old Kelly Conti of Wickliffe -- were killed. A medic -- 29-year-old Joe Paoletta -- was also on the chopper, and was treated at University's emergency department before being transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center's burn unit.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
