Canton Neighborhood to Keep Home Mail Delivery

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - The U-S Postal Service has dropped plans to end home mail delivery in a Canton neighborhood where a postal worker was killed by a stray bullet in October.

Because of opposition from residents, they won't have to go outside their homes to get their mail at a cluster of mailboxes.

However, the postal service is urging Canton officials and residents of the neighborhood to offer other possible solutions so mail carriers will feel safe.

Mayor Janet Weir Creighton suggests City Council should pass legislation to reinstate police bicycle patrols.
