CLEVELAND (AP) - A 5-year-old girl who was severely injured in a dog attack is still in critical condition, but a spokeswoman at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital said that she's expected to survive.
Authorities have not released the girl's name, nor have they filed charges against the dogs' owner.
Paramedic Tim Parks said that he's never seen such severe injuries from an animal. He's worked with emergency medical teams for 18 years.
Ashtabula County sheriff's officials said that the girl was visiting a Trumbull Township home on Friday with her mother and sister, and went outside to play with the dogs.
Parks said that most of the girl's scalp had been removed, her ears damaged and she had been bitten on her arms and legs.
On Monday, the sheriff's office declined to release any details regarding the case.
