Cleveland, OH - Police have arrested the person they believe kidnapped and raped a Pittsburgh woman who had her 16-month-old daughter in the back seat with her while grocery shopping. The male, 30-year-old Jimmy Lee Tayse, allegedly kidnapped the two, raped the mom near Akron, then dumped them off in Cleveland.
The suspect in the stolen Jeep took authorities for a short car chase then crashed near E.100th Street and Quebec Avenue. The male jumped out of the vehicel and took off on foot, then was apprehended without incident and brought into custody by Fourth District Police.
A Mother and child were abducted in Pittsburgh, mother was then raped at a hotel near Akron, and then two were dropped off in the Cleveland area sometime Saturday afternoon.
The woman was getting into her car after grocery shopping at a Giant Eagle when a male jumped into the back of her vehicle, where her sixteen month old child was sitting, and held out a knife telling her to get into the car and drive.
The male instructed the woman to exit and get a hotel in the Akron area, which is where the rape occurred.
The mother and child were then ordered into the back seat of the car, and the male drove them into the Cleveland area by the Hathaway and Parkwood intersection, and ordered them out of the vehicle. The mother and child got out, the driver drove away, and the two went into a random house and called 9-1-1.
The victim was transported to Huron Hospital, mother and child are believed to be okay.
Police were looking for a 28-33-year-old white male, 5'8", and approximately 200 pounds. The suspect was wearing Khaki pants and a red short sleeved shirt, and bald headed. The vehicle the suspect drove away with is a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Blue in color, with Pennsylvania plates reading FPH-6490. Police have arrested a suspect as of 3 p.m. Sunday.
