MYTH: Recent Cold Winters and Cool Summers Don't Feel Like Global Warming to Me

FACT: Yes, some places of the country have experienced some sporadic cold winters but the overall trend is warmer winters! Research shows that over the last century the Earth's climate has warmed overall - in all seasons - in most regions. Climate critics mislead the general public when they say that the wintertime of 2003 - '04 was the coldest on record in the Northeastern part of the country. In reality, that winter was only the 33rd coldest since record keeping started back in 1896. In addition, a single year of frigid weather in one region of the world is not an indication of a trend in global warming.
